I typically teach newborn photography workshops and educational programs once or twice a year either in my Sudbury studio or through Hunts Photo & Video.

1:1 Newborn Photography Mentoring

Private One-on-One Mentoring with Paula Swift

Investment: $1,500

Spend the day with me in my Sudbury, Massachusetts studio and gain hands-on experience photographing and posing a real newborn session from start to finish.

This private mentoring experience is designed for photographers who want personalized instruction in newborn photography, lighting, posing, workflow, and editing. Whether you're just beginning your newborn photography journey or looking to refine your skills and build a stronger portfolio, this one-on-one experience allows you to learn at your own pace with direct guidance throughout the day.

During your mentoring session, you'll photograph alongside me as I walk you through every step of a newborn session, including:

Studio setup and preparation
Safe newborn posing techniques
Wrapping and soothing methods
Studio lighting and light modifiers
Parent and sibling portraits
Camera settings and workflow
Image selection and editing
Building a newborn portfolio
Business and client experience discussions

You'll also have access to my studio, newborn props, wraps, and accessories throughout the mentoring session.

Who Is This Mentoring For?

This mentoring experience is ideal for photographers who:
Want hands-on newborn photography experience
Are looking to improve posing and lighting skills
Need help building a newborn portfolio
Prefer personalized instruction over a group workshop
Want to ask questions specific to their business and photography goals

What to Expect

The mentoring day begins at approximately 9:30 a.m. and typically concludes around 3:00 p.m., although timing may vary depending on the baby's schedule and needs.

Lunch, snacks, and refreshments are included.

Because of my photography schedule and the personalized nature of this program, mentoring sessions are limited and typically offered only once every 4–6 weeks.

Investment & Registration

Mentoring Fee: $1,500

A $500 non-refundable retainer is required to reserve your mentoring date.
The remaining balance is due three weeks before your scheduled mentoring session.
Previous Paula Swift Photography workshop attendees receive $100 off the mentoring fee.

Requirements

Please bring:

DSLR or mirrorless camera
Lens(es)
Memory cards
Extra batteries

You should be comfortable using your camera outside of Auto mode.

No studio lighting experience is required. During the mentoring session, you'll have the opportunity to use my studio lighting and triggers while learning how professional studio lighting can be incorporated into your own business.

Travel Information

Photographers travel from across New England and beyond for mentoring sessions. If you are visiting from out of town, there is a Fairfield Inn located within walking distance of the studio.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your mentoring session, I will make every effort to fill your reserved date.

If I’m able to fill your spot, your retainer may be applied toward a future workshop or mentoring session. If I am unable to fill your reserved date, the retainer remains non-refundable.
