One of my favorite spots to photograph high school seniors is right here in Sudbury at the historic Wayside Inn Grist Mill.
This location is truly a gem in MetroWest Boston—it offers so much variety within just a short walk.
From the rustic water wheel and stone walls to wooden fences, open fields, and peaceful streams, it creates the perfect natural backdrop for senior portraits.
This recent session with a local high school senior took place in mid-October, right in the middle of peak foliage season.
The Grist Mill was bursting with color—vibrant reds, oranges, and golds framed every shot and made the perfect backdrop for his portraits. I love how the autumn light reflected on the water, the textures of the old mill, and the brilliant leaves still clinging to the trees.
Whether sitting along the rocks near the stream, leaning against the weathered barn walls, or standing in front of the iconic red water wheel, every spot brought out a new dimension of his personality.
Peak foliage in New England is truly breathtaking, and it’s one of the most popular times of year to book senior sessions. October light is soft and golden, and the colors bring so much life and warmth to portraits.
The Wayside Inn Grist Mill in particular shines during this season, with endless opportunities to create unique, timeless images.
