A visit to a very special little boy and his family…

I first met this sweet little boy when he was a baby a few years ago, and he stole my heart back then.  It was so nice to see him, his family and to meet his beautiful new little sister for an outdoor photography session this past fall.  I just loved seeing how much he had grown and to hear his voice; to laugh at his sense of humor and his funny faces. He was so excited to show me the pumpkin he had grown in his garden and gave me a big thumbs up as he stood next to it.  It was so cute to see how loving he was with his new sister. He has been through so much in his short life as he was born with a rare genetic disorder Epidermolysis Bullosa. This condition makes his skin so fragile it blisters from pressure and friction. Children with EP are also called Butterfly Children, because their skin is fragile like butterfly wings.

I feel blessed ( again) to have met and  photograph this beautiful family. It really makes you realize how important portraits are for families, so they can remember those moments of happiness and smiles through photography.

Meet beautiful breast cancer survivor Tara and her very adorable daughter Ava…they were the cover models for baystateparent Magazine’s annual Think Pink issue. It was an amazing photo shoot in my Framingham studio loft with this incredible mom and her fun 2 year-old daughter. From the moment they walked into the studio, I just knew this was going to be fun and energetic studio photo shoot. As a former photojournalist at the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, these are the type of shoots I just fall in love with. Their fun-loving personalities were key in capturing these story-telling images for baystateparent’s issue on breast cancer and their survivors. The Think Pink annual issue is one of my favorites they publish every year. Paula Ethier, the creative director at baystateparent is always a pleasure to work with and I love her ideas. Check out this October’s issue and the stories written by Lynn Jolicoeur and other local journalists about Tara along with other local women who are conquering breast cancer with their strength and incredible positive attitudes!

What a great session we had on a warm August evening.  It was so nice to see this family again and see how much their twins had grown since our last session in 2008.  I first met them when they were 15 months old and now they are 4.5 yrs old with very sweet personalities. This little girl was so sweet and I just love her wide-eyed expressions. It was so nice to meet that little baby that was growing in her mommy’s tummy for their in home newborn session. Here is a link to their in studio maternity session . Even big sister joined in for some portraits. I love including all members of the family in my sessions. We used a natural setting in their home using my portable studio lighting and perfect natural light coming in from their windows. I love photographing this family! I have been doing so since their first was only 4 months old, its been amazing watching this family grow. We did a combo of 2 sessions this time; one focusing on the family and siblings; the second focusing on Ms. A and her very cute smiles and laughs. Such a fun age…7 months. Her big brother was just about 3 and very loving to his little sister. …they have the cutest personalities. Looking forward to photographing them again this summer on the beach. Another one of my little clients became a big brother recently. You may remember Mr. Personality during his mom’s maternity session HERE, he was just as much for his little brother’s newborn session as he was then. I could tell he was so proud to become a big brother as he kissed and smiled at his baby brother. Mom and dad were wonderful as always during their sessions. This session took place in my Framingham studio loft where I was able to use my simple backdrops , studio lights and natural light by the huge windows in my warehouse studio. Its always so nice to see my little clients grow up to become big brothers and sisters. I photographed this 2 yr old when he was in mommy’s tummy and his newborn session 2.5 yrs ago..now its turn to welcome a new little baby into his family. He was so cute putting his ear up to mommy’s tummy listening for the baby.  I have to laugh though because yet again I was pregnant when I did their session as well. I promise I only have 3 kids…just had them all close together so I was pregnant during a lot of my returning clients sessions at one time or another.  We had a great session…this lil guy was so much fun to photograph. His mom looks amazing too..dad was a good sport again.  Looking forward to photographing their new son tomorrow. Here are some favorites…

What a wonder session with this new baby boy.  He was so sweet and so alert for only being a few weeks old..though I was able to capture a few sleepy cat nap moments.  The natural light in his parents home was just perfect for his session.
