What a beautiful evening it was for this family’s beach session on the North Shore in MA. It was great seeing them again. I first met met them when their second daughter was born earlier this winter. Both their little girls were fabulous to photograph ; as their oldest played in the sand and water their youngest discovered some shells and starfish. What a fun and amazing session this was of this beautiful 10 year old girl.  She was just a blast to photograph and is a talented little musician.  Her aunt and cousin brought her into the studio to surprise her parents with these special portraits of her.  We had such a great time doing outfit changes and using both the studio light and the new natural light side of the studios.  I loved being able to offer a variety of portraits during her session.  Here are some favorites from her Boston Children’s Photography session…

Another beautiful 2 week old came to the studio recently for her first photo shoot.  She slept like a baby ( which I loved)  and she gave us a few sleepy smiles.  You may remember this mom and dad from their maternity session a few posts below  Click Here to See .  I am so fortunate to be able to capture these  early moments of a new life and new families. Sessions like these remind me why I love my job so much. Here are some favorites…

I love when I have the opportunity to use my dramatic lighting skills to photograph families in my Framingham studio loft. It added such a nice feeling to this beautiful family’s photography session. The session was booked primarily to focus on their 4 month old baby girl and their family. Image ideas started to appear in front of me as I started their session. I first noticed the connection between big brother and little sister was so evident…I noticed how loving he was to his sister. She smiled and touched his hands as he held her and then when she was laid in the basket. Mom loves black and white photography, so I really played on that look with my lighting. One of my favorite family studio portraits was captured this day – as they held her in their arms with my lights shining down on them. Then big brother wanted some alone time in front of my lenses…so I kept the same lighting set-up and had him sit and be “serious”, which is very hard for a 9 yr old but he did great. I am thrilled with the results. I can’t wait to capture my own boys in this set-up. I have to add mom brought the cutest outfits and hats in for her daughter…they were just perfect! I’ve had an exciting past 7 days and need time to catch up … but wanted to share another exciting thing.

I was surprised that little old me was contacted by FotoFlock by Epson to be interviewed as their Featured Photographer. “FotoFlock is India’s first community photography portal. Its Supported by Epson and has over 50,000 visitors every month. FotoFlock aims at educating amateur and advanced amateur level photographers and showcasing the work of top photographers from across the globe.” It was a complete honor to be featured with likes of Joyce Tenneson , Brian Smith and many other well known incredible photographers. Kadambari Khaire Ghate from FotoFlock had great interview questions that made me really think about my work , where I’ve been and how far I have come from being a Photojournalist to a Portrait Photographer. I was so excited when I was contacted by the editor of baystateparent Magazine, Carrie Wattu to use an image from one of my recent newborn sessions. It was of “Bear” a 2 week old little boy in a bear hat…could of been more perfect for his nickname. He oh so sweet and so was his big sister who is only 17 months old. Here is the image that was used in this months edition. Thank you again Lauren and Craig for allowing BSP to use the image of their beautiful new son and Carrie Wattu and Paula Ethier for choosing the image.

Look at this beautiful teddy ” Bear” baby boy..he was just so adorable. His big sister who is just about 1.5 years old was so loving with him..kissing, hugging and holding his hands. I just love capturing moments like this for families. I have been photographing this growing family for a few years now and they are just so relaxed during all the sessions , which so is key to being able to creating these images for them. We had lots of fun trying on new hats that I have been buying for all these new babies I have been photographing..I think Bear has a future in modeling. It was wonderful seeing this family again to photograph their children for the holidays. We lucked out with a very warm November afternoon and they had beautiful fall foliage in their yard.
