It was wonderful fall evening on the beach in Swampscott for this family.  It was a fun and loving session…my favorite kind where the family is natural in front of my cameras and I’m able to document the love they share for one another. Dad brought one of his guitars down to the beach with him and added a great personal touch to their session.  Their session started just a few hours before sunset so I could take advantage of the beautiful evening light and create one of my favorite silhouettes of their family.  Here are favorites from their Swampscott Beach Session from last September.

Happy New Year…its hard to believe 2012 is already here! 2011 was one of our busiest years yet and to showcase favorites from each session we decided to make best of photography collages. I had so much fun going through each session and picking out images, so many fun and exciting memories came flooding back. From expectant parents excited to meet their new baby(s), to watching all those new babies yawn and sleep during their sessions, sharing laughs and giggles with kids on the go, with a few bribes here and there to get them to cooperate, to enjoying warm sandy nights on the beach, playing in the leaves with families and capturing high school seniors in the beautiful light in the fall. Thank you everyone who I met and photographed in 2011 and I look forward to seeing you in 2012.

What a beautiful evening it was for this family’s beach session on the North Shore in MA. It was great seeing them again. I first met met them when their second daughter was born earlier this winter. You can view those images HERE . It always amazes me how much babies change in such a short time. Both their little girls were fabulous to photograph ; as their oldest played in the sand and water their youngest discovered some shells and starfish. What a gorgeous night it was on the Cape for this family. We met the Bars Inn in Chatham for their session where they were staying for vacation, beautiful location. It was such a fun session and great to see how much their children had grown since their last session earlier this spring. Their daughter had turn one just a few weeks earlier and their son 3 in April ( on my birthday ). I loved when I arrived and he had his dad’s camera ready to go and said ” watch this Paula Swift” and snapped my photo. Ummmm and this 3 yr old has a pretty good eye too. Just might have to have him as an assistant when he is a few years older. Always an amazing session with this family. I am sure you will recognize them throughout my website and blog. I have been photographing these 3.5 year old twins and their family every year since they were 6 months old! You can view that session HERE I have just loved seeing them and how much they have grown into their little selves. Mom even had the same blanket I photographed them on when they were 6 months old to use for this session. We met this year at a north shore beach for their family’s photography session. The sun played some games with us but the session still went beautifully and I just love all the fun images I captured of their family. A photographer’s dream location; a tree swing, an old shed/greenhouse, a beach and a warm fall sunset. I couldn’t have asked for more and and a perfect ending to my last beach session of the year…” My Last Hurrah”. So many awesome places to shoot at this location in Chatham, Cape Cod. I first met this 4 year old boy a few years back when he was just 18 months old. He was just as much a little model as he was then. So much fun and went around doing his thing…that 4 yr old boys do, discovering, digging, running, playing and laughing all the while. A session like this makes me feel the love for career and I am so happy I left the field of photojournalism to pursue children’s and family photography. Here are some favorites…

Another wonderful summer night for a beach session up in Maine.  Their family had welcomed a second daughter late spring, so it was wonderful to be able to capture their new family in beach session. Their oldest daughter was so much fun to photograph as she kept me and my lenses chasing after each wonder she would discover during the session. Her baby sister took a little nap in one of my baskets on the boardwalk leading to the beach… it was just beautiful and it was even more beautiful when her big sister would come running down to check on her…awwww. Another gorgeous night for a beach session in Wells Beach Maine on Drakes Island.  It was wonderful seeing this family again, the last time I saw them their baby girl was still growing in her mommy’s belly. She is just beautiful and so much fun to photograph. Her curls and big brown eyes were a photographer’s dream to capture.  I can still hear her giggles as her parents sang her a very funny song.
